Gameplay

A hybrid 2D world: top-down life at the sanctuary, side-view diving in the ABYSSAL, and close-up surgery at the healing table.

Side-view diving

Oxygen is the only clock

Every dive is a vertical descent. The camera follows Mira down through parallax layers of water while her oxygen drains — faster the deeper you go. Find injured creatures, collect trash, and make it back to the surface before the tank hits zero.

  • Oxygen bar: blue → yellow → red → blinking. At 0%: panic ascent, and you lose your catch.
  • Depth meter: shows the current zone — pressure and darkness rise together.
  • Rescue slot: one creature per dive. Choose your patient wisely.
  • No mid-dive saves: surfacing or blacking out ends the run — a light roguelite touch.

Underwater

The Rescue

Panicked animals aren't enemies — they're patients that don't know you're here to help. Yet.

1

Approach

Stealth-like. Loud movements raise the creature's panic — move slow, stay calm.

2

Diagnose

Get close enough to scan. The scan reveals the injury and which tool you'll need.

3

Treat

An underwater minigame based on the injury — cut the net, remove the hook, wipe the oil.

4

Stabilize

Channel for five interruptible seconds to secure the patient in your rescue net.

5

Transport

The creature follows you slowly. Drift too far away and its panic climbs again.

Panic & Trust

Panic rises with loud movement, wrong tools and nearby aggressive neighbors. At 50% the minigame gets harder, at 75% the creature flees, at 100% it lashes out — costing you oxygen, never health. Calming spray and slow behavior bring it back down.

Trust grows with every successful treatment, correct meal and release — and shrinks with failed minigames, wrong tank temperatures and neglect. High trust makes every future treatment easier.

Time & weather

One day, twenty minutes

Storms strand creatures on the beach. Red tides block zones but push rare patients into safe water. Every day asks a different question.

Morning · 06–12

Best visibility. Feed patients, clean tanks, prep the dive.

Noon · 12–16

Strong sun, lively coral, extra plankton — slight oxygen regen.

Evening · 16–20

Golden hour. Rare creatures wake up.

Night · 20–06

Too dangerous to dive. Base phase: care, craft, sleep.
